Looks like the volunteer trail crew has got some trails ready to ride. Still no riding at Sugarloaf.

i was blacked out this weekend so i finally made it out on the trail network. it was awesome. everyone was out. so many fatbikers, great scene.

trails were in excellent condition considering how very, very low tide it is. forest floor still coming through on popular trails like meade and sargent by the river. roots and rocks, things still poking thru. we did did basically everything off the NG and no issues anywhere that i could see. saw no blowdowns.

if you want to avoid the crowds, head to treadwell. seems like its still off the radar and i find it challenging - lower traffic, more precision needed to stay on trail. seems like the view payoff at the far loop got trimmed up too. so SL view is better now. if you don't know where it is, head to oak knoll and its on the right just before.

also new mike's re-route is groomed and well broken in.

does anyone ride snail trail or the connector in the winter?

i believe the groomer is broke down on snowy loops at the moment.

trails have a fresh groom and the surface is nice but the snow is very punchy. i ate shit on Sargent after the entry climb before the switchback climb. i put my pogies on for the ride and i clipped a small tree on the trail w/ my handle bar. left a POTM shaped bomb hole. i tried to repair best i could. apologies. i was not alone. lots of similar holes and skid offs on the trails. the forest is now thickly covered in snow but you gotta dial down the center at the moment.

sunday may have been the last hurrah for 24-25 fatbike season. the flash freeze made for perfect conditions to get one last ride in. trails were fully back to forest floor in many, many places, but they were bone dry before the freeze. most trails have a thin layer of solid ice on them which was super fun on studs. did everything from grassy loops to sargent and back. snowy loops is done. the road to treadwell will be fully mud. i think this snowy shot today will ultimately result in mud and trail closures. go get it now while its frozen. this is it.
