NGP Report 2-24-21 "Have you any Spike, man?"

Postby Pow on the Mao » Thu Feb 25, 2021 3:18 pm

yesterday was warm. there was a large avi in Tuck's and the strong march sun baked the snow surface in the valley. At 4pm the surface was melty and greasy and as temps fell it became krispy. i expect we had a refreeze event overnight. snail trail from the ODC to 27 is riding better. the trail out to the new loop by newton's revenge was covered in new snow and blowing snow... trail needs to be broken back in. the regular suspects are riding very well. i ventured further south to Spike which is absolutely ridable, but needs more traffic; i went the wrong way the first time thru and i'm sure it will confuse the next guy. POTM's pick of the day was FORD, which if it had banked turns it would be the most fun fatbiking trail in the valley.. can really get some speed going. bomb holes from people like me falling off their bike are visible on all trails but meade. its good to know its not just you! Mike's kinda sucks right now in comparison to other trails as snowshoers have broken the path into two spurs, both soft. i don't think it gets groomed either. that fucking cedar tree suuuuuucks.

POTM Thanks for the report.
I've yet to take out the Fatty in the Valley this season, but looking to get some miles in this coming weekend.....Curious to know if you think studs are required ?

Thanks.

probably not required but highly advised for maximum enjoyment. start with meade, see how it goes.
