Ventured out into the western extremities of the network yesterday. Rode the Esker trail from Stratton Brook Pond to the Approach Trail.
Esker was bone dry and in surprisingly good condition.. this is w/ the exception of blow-downs. A fair amount of carnage in the woods from that Nov or Dec wind storm. (bring a collapsible hand saw and help clear the trail if you venture out... a few are chainsaw-required).
The Approach Trail from Esker to the power lines is in good shape. Only a bit of mud near the stream section. From the power lines up the back of Oak Knoll was no bueno. Mostly walking due to significant mud. This section of trail needs more trail-building love. Small streams overtake the trail and some patches of stone dust would go along way. where do i donate?
We took the Bear Trail trail for a hot second to the snowmobile trail. The Bear Trail appears to be very manicured.
The snowmobile trail never needs to be ridden by a mountain bike (unless you have some kind of issue and just need to get to civilization) We thought we might make a loop out of the ride back to SBP Rd. No. Do not do this. It sucks. The only real trail connection to Wyman is the Esker trail.
