Groomed & Closed

Postby essslsclsact » Fri Mar 01, 2024 8:42 am

Lately, including today the Daily Report lists trails as groomed but closed. How does one interpret this when deciding where to ski? We find this confusing and certainly not very useful when planning our ski day.

If it is closed, don't ski it?

I don’t get it. What’s the problem?

Why would lots of resources be expended to groom many trails and then not have them open for skiing.

Groomed doesn't necessarily mean it was groomed in the last 24 hours. It could be a 2 or 3 day groom. With the weather we've had a 2 day groom could be a pretty rough run and might warrant closing.

well lifts would help access terrain and groomed trails.
Right now... not much is loading other than DRC and only West... and hard to get to Bucksaw from the base w/ out the SQ

So the only way to get to WM is ski from condo or parking lot…

Looks like the quad is open now. If Bucksaw is open but the quad is closed, I suppose you could take the parking lot shuttle to lot F or G -- maybe E -- and access Bucksaw that way.

Now that the snow drought has everyone such a good mood ... it is time to put next year's season passes on sale.
Sale on 24/25 passes starts March 6th. No prices yet.

If you hate the shuttle and DRC West is running, there is no need for SQ. You can get to Bucksaw Express via Tote Road X-cut --> Middle Scoot --> Bucksaw.
