Doesn’t a strong El Niño lead to warmer & wetter winters with less snow than average in the northern states?
Latest reports are this has a chance to be an historically super strong one!

Here is my prediction... and it has been the same for the past 30+ years...
It will snow
It will rain
it will sleet
it will hail
there will be freezing rain
It will get brutally cold
the wind will blow
the hill will occasionally close due to conditions/weather
Come May and operations end... we will want to do it again.

On April 8th there will also be a phenomenon that you have not predicted…

BOOM! Ski Ward Claims First Lift Serviced Turns in North America

The first lift serviced turns in the North America happened today at Ski Ward in Shrewsbury, MA and Matt Lush and his son claimed that prize!

Ski Ward installed a Latitude 90 snowmaking device that is capable of producing up to 156 cubic yards of snow per day depending on conditions, but most importantly these devices make snow at practically any temperature because they are essentially ice makers. Ski Ward started building piles on October 1st and pushed them out on October 15th, and a week later they called an audible and opened the trail up to the public during their fall festival. The plan was and still is to offer a November training session for kids.

We weren't going to consider this to be first lift skiing turns initially because it wasn't open to the public, but today they met that definition by selling tickets to the public and they no doubt earned it! Smiles were had and day 1 of the 2023/2024 ski season is now on the books at Ski Ward and across North America. A-Basin, Killington, and Sunday River, et. al, eat your hearts out!

The future?
https://latitude90.ca/
Latitude 90 snow making machines produce snow with an ice mass fraction (IMF) of a stagger 100%. The temperatures of the snow released from our machines are between -8 to -6°C (18 to 21°F). The end result? Snow without any humidity that retains its properties—and does not melt quickly.

This all sounded so promising…but mostly those nor’easters weren’t as frequent or strong or just didn’t materialize this season (yet)

Yeah. I got excited by this graphic and article and completely forgot what El Niño typically means for the east: shit sandwich. I feel like we haven't had an El Niño in a long time.

Its certainly going fast but we'll get more snow, its not over yet but lets say there was no snow for reggae, its not about the skiing, it could probably make for a bigger weekend, bucksaw express shuttling people to Bullys

Not saying anything about anything, just wondering whether it's time to page shotski and if I have the authority to page shotski. Not that there is any reason to page shotski. Maybe I will take up golf this spring.

I had it in my drafts to start the hype train mid week but resisted. Seems like this is much needed , nws just put sugarloaf in the special red color of 18-24”. Happy for those that need it. Cousin at Killington said every rental cancelled the rest of the winter at his condo.
