Rain has already changed to snow on all the mid and upper mountain cams. Should be a good snowfall (12”+) at elevation

Better than expected. It rained, but not heavily. I heard from a friend in MA who reported "sheeting rain" happening there. We had nothing like that. At 8am it was raining, but it is snowing now, and 4" is predicted.

Still though, Winter 1 is over.

Ha! I "like" this. I am guessing winter 2 is scheduled to end Jan 2024....And hopefully Winter 3 ends in May of 2024, and we don't get a "bonus" winter 4 this year :)

I'd say winter 1 will be over after next Monday's washout. It is what it is.

Reopening - day 33 after missing 2 for repairs and more.
Storm knocked the resort back about a month when comparing open terrain.
10 trails, 68 acres, 2 webcams (the last time Bullwinkles cam was running it looked like late spring  )

Winter 2 begins on the day of Winter Solstice!

Bump to get to the top & need some local help

Is the 13” from the Tues-Wed storm being reported legit?

Timbeline is missing from the lift section this morning (is it okay?)

I always support Sugarloaf's reporting as being pretty accurate or even conservative, but thought 13 inches was pretty aggressive. I'm at 2k feet and cleaned about 7-8 inches off my cars.

Hard to say as there was/is wind blowing and drifting snow around. I'm also at about 2000' and I shoveled about 8" off my deck last night. This morning there was more accumulation. Maybe 4" more? Had to work so did not sample the goods on the hill, but it would certainly depend on measuring in a sheltered area. I agree SL reporting has been conservative the past several years. I'll give them a pass on this one.

What I shoveled was very light. I'll stop short of calling it "blower" powder, but it was light. I'm afraid this wind has erased any gains on piste.

One thing you can count on is Timberline being on wind hold
3rd day in a row, 6th time in last 8 days & 11 of the past 15 days
Put another way, it hasn't gone on wind hold only 4 days in the last fortnight.
Need a more reliable lift to the summit

Yes a more reliable lift to the summit is needed for sure and it had been debated and maybe solved on this forum many times. I have skied out west many days when the wind was blowing and it would have shut down timberline and/or skyline. I know direction plays a role as well. I was at Alta one day last March and the wind was nuking. After the first ride up Collins we said no way they keep it open.........well they ran the lift til 3:30. The skiing was great but it was 8 or 9 of the windiest lift ride Ive ever had.

Same experience at Snowbird - had to be 50mph and a white out but we rode a quad to the top and only knew we were there when it slowed in the terminal. Of course the tram was also running and super stable with the multiple cables.

Its not always because of wind, its because of not enough staff to run Timberline, wind is an amazing excuse but not always the reason, I bet when Bucksaw opens King pine will run less

Yes exactly. I was at the top of Sugarloaf lift at Alta one day looking over at Snowbird and he gusts were 60-70..........Tram still running. Amazing the winds they run those lifts in. Although last year on the windy day at Alta most of the lifts at Snowbird were closed.

Mountain is packed, they groomed the wet snow and it froze pretty solid, would be a great ski fast day except for the crowds; also fog freezing to your googles.
