Well you know, sometimes it can be raining in the valley and snowing on the mountain.

Weather.com is not reliable for mtn weather and stats. Never mind in the valley, it can be raining at The Rack and snowing on the mountain.

Down here in the Poconos you'd think the world was ending. It's like 5 degrees out and the fear is palpable. Lmao.

Day 83 of the season
106” natural reported after 1” last night which is the first this month.
91 lift holds so far, of varying degree from late open to all closed all day.

Does SL have any snowmaking budget left?
Because they sure have been stingy making it this season. After all the hype early on they barely blew one or two trails ant a time all though January. School vacation week is coming up and it would be nice to build some more base for a longer season & maybe take back the King of Spring title from that VT place.

Not sure what year, but recently. They shut snowmaking down, but weather was bad and they had to save the season by making snow again. I don't think they can or will make final decisions on this as the weather and snowmaking can make or break the mountain business and customer relations. They'll do whatever they need to do to get through the season until at least first few weeks of April.

Bump - another month in the books
103 open days and there have been 52 Timberline holds (ranging from late open to closed all day) 135 lift holds overall using the same criteria and including TL ones.
LINK TO CHART

Highlights from the summary chart below
Dec & Jan were the snowiest since we started tracking
Meanwhile Feb was the least snowiest during the same period
Season to date snow total is already ahead of the full last two seasons!

At this point, I'd settle for a t-bar to the top.
If you can see the Maple Leaf on the Canadian flag from the Beach cam then its a good chance TL will start on hold. But you won't know officially until the Erica or Sydney get back from first tracks.

When was the last time Sugarloaf was 100% open?
The resort stats say there are 162 total trail & glades.
The mountain report says 150 are now open. but the detail listing shows 16 closed (including 2 parks)

i'll verify 6" up high and it stuck to the face like glue. the front face is skiing almost as good as it gets right now. Bubblecuffer extension is totally filled. above KP is very filled in. we skipped the backside to lap above KP where the snow seemed better. i'd call it 100% open.

Ditto.
Still giddy from skiing the front face all day yesterday....What surprised me even more is how well it skied on Saturday before the storm, and then Sunday was off the charts. It was nice to get some lines that only come around just once every few years. Its going to be a great time for "spring" skiing at the Loaf this year...Thinking they could legitimately have June skiing this year (however I know they will never do it, but one can dream :D )

MARCH 31st UPDATE
Season day #134
March was bountiful with 38" of snow reported (still not sure how Saddleback reported 64" but that's for another thread)
Season total is 165" with 107" since Christmas. Already blown past the last 2 seasons and just another 8" needed to surpass the 19/20 totals.
The frontside & backside snowfields and 100% of Brackett remain open! (a slight summit delay this AM for patrol to get first tracks, errrr the snow to soften up)
180 total lift holds (almost everything was on wind hold yesterday). 68 days where Timberline had a hold.
Countdown to Reggae - 6 days!

How about this announcement on Sugarloaf FB page!
"We are honored to say that we are now in the lead as the mountain with the most snowfall in the United States. We’ve kept it under the radar in order to minimize traffic. This massive snowpack will allow us to stay open until November 2023. Since the 23/24 season also begins in November, we have vowed to keep the mountain running 365 days a year.
Although disc golf and mountain biking will be canceled, an indoor skating rink will be added on the top of the mountain. The extra snow we’ve received has allowed cool enough temps to maintain the rink all year long. Renovations have already begun in the old Gondi building. Looking forward to seeing us all on the slopes in September.
Grab your 23/24 season passes here: https://www.sugarloaf.com/season-passes. These spring skiing conditions are no joke. Please note, indoor skating rink access is not included."

Pretty good - meanwhile Alta is legit at 811” for the season and it is still snowing, the canyon road is closed for avalanche mitigation but at least interlodge is no longer in effect for people already up there!

fri night / Saturday's event was a net positive for the mountain. i'd call it 3"
saturday was a crazy weather day.. for those who got interlodged at KP.. country club skiing for as long as you could deal with the elements.
by 3pm it was blue skies, at least from 2k feet to 3k feet. inversion in valley and clouds clinging to summit. .5" crust on top of new stuff in bracket. but groomed trails seemed to not have the crust. skied fresh on top of corduroy to a condo at 4pm. from a cloud to hot sunshine, back into a cloud.
