Mountain Biking in Carrabassett Valley and Beyond

Allspeed no more at the Outdoor Center

Postby Gstring » Tue May 21, 2024 2:43 pm

Allspeed is handing the torch to Sugarloaf to run the mountain bike operation at the Outdoor Center. According to a post on FB today, it will be managed by a longtime Allspeed employee. I'm hoping Sugarloaf will manage the shop as well as Allspeed did.

This is good news for Carrabassett Valley Bike. Bob has been the face of mountain biking at the Loaf for years.

I don't think so. Bob just posted on FB on Tues that his shop, Carrabassett Valley Bike, would be opening this Saturday, 5/25.

From Allspeed FB

Carrabassett Valley has and always will be a very special place to us. When we first arrived in the valley, we received a very warm welcome from the community and we will never forget that. Over the amazing six years of running the shop at the Outdoor Center, we have made some great connections with folks. Whether it’s helping people get back on the trail, saving someone’s race, or simply showing someone the joy of mountain biking, we’ve had an absolute blast running the shop at the Outdoor Center.
We've made the decision that it's time to pass the wrench to our friends and great partners at @sugarloafmountain . Moving forward, Sugarloaf will be operating the bike shop at the Outdoor Center and we’re very pleased to announce it will be managed by long-time Allspeed Carrabassett employee and friend Mike Spurrier. Please reach out to Sugarloaf with any questions regarding schedule/operations, however it sounds like Mike is hoping to have the shop up and running by early June.
We'd like to send out a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone; past employees, customers, racers, area workers and businesses, trail crews, CR Nemba, Sugarloaf, the Town of Carrabassett Valley, and absolutely everyone else we met along the way. Thank you so much for the support for Allspeed Carrabassett over the past six years, we sincerely appreciate it!
See you on the trails!
Ski season is too short
